It feels like every aspect of the dock has been well-considered, from the way that the dock and the mouse temporarily sync and flash the Viper Ultimate's color-coded battery status when you dock it, to the fact that it has a USB port to hold the Viper Ultimate's RF dongle so it doesn't take up an extra port on your PC. The dock magnetically holds the mouse in place in a tilted, holstered position.Combined with the Chroma-enabled RGB rim around the base, it presents a pretty picture for parking your mouse. The four-sided footer plugs into your PC via USB, and it connects to the mouse via a pair of nubby copper contacts.

You can customize and save as many profiles as you want in the Synapse software PC-side, though, and swap them out as you move games in and out of rotation.Programming the on-mouse lighting, thanks to Razer's Chroma Studio, can be as easy or as complicated as you'd like it to be, depending on what pattern you'd design and how many Razer products you'd like to sync. If you haven't, it's generally snap-simple to reset DPI presets and remap buttons across your profiles.The Viper Ultimate can store up to five profiles in the mouse's internal, onboard memory, which is about standard for a high-end product. If you've used any Razer products before, the systems are as easy to use as ever. That said, if you have the dock, you'll never have to worry about that, since it feels natural to dock and top off the mouse when you power down for the evening.The Viper Ultimate relies on Razer's software suite for all its customization, including Razer Synapse to change its settings and Razer Chroma to customize its lighting. I found that it lasts five to six days on a charge with the RGBs on and blazing.
By the transitive property, in my mind, that makes it one of the best gaming mice you can get.
